| The Learning disabilities Association of Guilford is a non-profit, volunteer
organization dedicated to serving residents of the area as a primary
advocacy group and as a local resource for parents, educators and adults.
Chartered in 1972, LdAG is an affiliate of the state and national
Learning Disabilities Association.
Over the years this association has sponsored workshops and tutor
training, established parent and adult support groups, regularly published
informative newletters, provided monthly meetings and maintained a
lending library. In 1975 LdAG began the Summer Program to provide students
with learning differences and/or attention deficit disorder the opportunity
for academic remediation and enrichment in a positive learning environment.
During the next 25 years the LdAG Summer Program filled a critical
niche - a place where students were invited to develop their own strengths,
understand their differences and appreciate their abilities, with the
intent that they return to the regular school program in the fall with
confidence and tools for developing self-advocacy.
In 2001 the Summer Program was discontinued as the public schools
provided more opportunities for our students. LdAG is now refocusing
and refining its efforts on communication, advocacy, education and
outreach. We invite you to join us. |
